17th – 23rd August is Keep Australia Beautiful Week. Hearing aid users deal with many disposable batteries, so it is a good opportunity to remind everyone that batteries are not meant to be thrown into the bin.
Each year, 8,000 tonnes of batteries end up in landfill because they were not separated from normal trash. Over time, the toxic chemicals in these batteries leak into the environment, potentially harming wildlife and affecting surrounding soil or waterways.
We encourage everyone to take their used batteries to special collection points throughout Australia. If you have used hearing aid batteries, bring them to Ivory hearing and we will properly dispose them for you.
Rechargeable hearing aids are more and more common nowadays, so if you are in need of new hearing aids, contact us and we can organise environmentally-friendly hearing aids that helps you hear your best while keeping Australia beautiful.
